AHN Women and Chrissy Teigen have launched a social cause initiative to reduce the stigma of postpartum depression and anxiety — #MyWishForMoms. Chrissy recently spent a day at the AHN Women Alexis Joy D’Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health in Pittsburgh to meet with patients and tour the facility. Allegheny Health Network announced Thursday that it is partnering with model and actress Chrissy Teigen to launch a social cause initiative that aims to create an open dialogue about women about postpartum depression and anxiety.
According to a release from AHN, about one in seven new mothers — or more than 500,000 women — develop postpartum depression, but only 15 percent of them received treatment. Allegheny Health is seeking to increase awareness of postpartum depression so women suffering from it know they are not alone.
“When I was approached with this opportunity – to help be the voice for women experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety – I thought, ‘this is perfect!'” Teigen said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be able to use the platform that I’ve been given to reduce the stigma that many women feel when talking about these very real and treatable conditions.”
Throughout the month of May — which is also known as Mental Health month — Teigen will use social media to ask moms to share what they wish they would have known about postpartum depression by using the hashtag #MyWishForMoms. A website with the same name as the hashtag will educate families on the warning signs and treatment options for postpartum depression.
Teigen previously visited Pittsburgh for the opening of the Alexis Joy D’Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health, where she met with women who received treatment for postpartum depression.
Here are 3 new video interviews that Chrissy did recently with E! and Extra Tv. Check them out.
Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2019 have been revealed and the mag just released the six cover stars for the issues. Chrissy is also appeared in the full list, that you can check on Time’s official site. Here’s the article featured Chrissy, written by Eric Ripert.
“In this world, there are only two things: good food and bad food. What Chrissy Teigen and I have in common is that we like good food. I first met Chrissy on the set of my show, On the Table. The idea was to interview the guest while we cooked a meal together. She was a riot. She was out-of-her-mind funny, and we had a blast. But while she might come off as lighthearted, Chrissy’s cooking is truly excellent. She’s a true perfectionist and extremely precise. She remembers where she came from, and she’s very proud of that. Her father is of Norwegian descent, her mother is Thai and she’s American, and she’s bringing her culture to the food world. Her cookbooks are made for people to cook at home, but they’re not something you just leave on the coffee table—they’re recipes you want to make over and over again. She may be a top model, but all her life, Chrissy Teigen has liked to eat. She’s not shy about that—or anything else, really. She’s very opinionated, and I love her for it. But what I love most about Chrissy is that she’s very much herself. She may be glamorous and an icon in elegance, but she’s extremely approachable and warm. And above all, she’s a very proud mother and a tremendously supportive wife. I admire her so much.”
The couple that inks together, stays together? Seems to be the truth today for power duo Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who showed off matching tattoos in a tribute to their adorable family of four.
The husband and wife team decided on a delicately scripted trio of names: For Legend, “Chrissy-Luna-Miles” was artfully penned on his upper arm, and for Teigen, “John-Luna-Miles” on her forearm. The artist behind the ink? Los Angeles-based Daniel Winter, whose fine-lined creations can be seen gracing the limbs of A-listers from Sophie Turner to Miley Cyrus. He was the one behind Lady Gaga’s Edith Piaf-inspired tattoo ahead of the Oscars.
The pro sets himself apart with a single-needle fine-line technique that allows for minimalist drawings of stars, palm trees, flowers sayings, and chain links that mimic a new bracelet. While Legend opted for just the set of names, Teigen added on a small heart on the inside of her index finger—a loving touch indeed. Click here to see the Instagram’s post.
