Hulu Orders Food Shows From Chrissy Teigen

Hulu is turning to foodies in search of its next five million subscribers.

The streaming service has ordered its first slate of original food programmes, which will be produced by celebrity chef David Chang, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen, and Vox Media, the owner of food site Eater. Two of its first projects are Family Style, about cooking for friends and family and Eater’s Guide to the World, a documentary series.

Hulu, owned by Walt Disney Co. and Comcast Corp., is expanding its pipeline of unscripted programmes to boost its customer base in the US. The service now has 26.8 million paid subscribers, it said Wednesday, up from about 23 million at the end of last year.

Cooking shows have been a staple of traditional TV for decades, with the Food Network and Bravo’s Top Chef hooking viewers. In more recent years, documentary-style food shows such as Chef’s Table have already been a success in the on-demand world for Netflix Inc., Hulu’s larger rival.

The push into food is part of a programming slate that Hulu will preview for advertisers in New York on Wednesday. The streaming service, known for shows like The Handmaid’s Tale’ and Casual, also will unveil new scripted fare. That includes two new shows based on characters from Marvel comic books, a drama with Nicole Kidman, and a series starring Kate McKinnon as disgraced startup founder Elizabeth Holmes.

But unscripted programmes, from competitions to talk shows to travelogues, are cheaper than dramas and just as addictive for viewers. Netflix has touted its success with Chef’s Table, Nailed It! and Queer Eye, a reboot of a popular styling show.

Hulu just earned an Oscar nomination for its documentary Minding the Gap and earned attention for its documentary about the Fyre Festival. But its pipeline of reality TV has been smaller than that of Netflix or Amazon.com Inc.

“In today’s direct-to-consumer world, viewers are demanding better when it comes to TV,’’ Hulu Chief Executive Officer Randy Freer said in a statement. “Hulu’s continued growth, as well as the shows and initiatives announced today, reflect our deep investment in product, programming, brand, customer experience and business strategy.’’

#MyWishForMoms Videos

AHN Women and Chrissy Teigen have launched a social cause initiative to reduce the stigma of postpartum depression and anxiety — #MyWishForMoms. Chrissy recently spent a day at the AHN Women Alexis Joy D’Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health in Pittsburgh to meet with patients and tour the facility. Here are some videos and feel free to read more on their official website.

AHN announces partnership with Chrissy Teigen

Allegheny Health Network announced Thursday that it is partnering with model and actress Chrissy Teigen to launch a social cause initiative that aims to create an open dialogue about women about postpartum depression and anxiety.

According to a release from AHN, about one in seven new mothers — or more than 500,000 women — develop postpartum depression, but only 15 percent of them received treatment. Allegheny Health is seeking to increase awareness of postpartum depression so women suffering from it know they are not alone.

“When I was approached with this opportunity – to help be the voice for women experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety – I thought, ‘this is perfect!'” Teigen said in a statement. “I’m grateful to be able to use the platform that I’ve been given to reduce the stigma that many women feel when talking about these very real and treatable conditions.”

Throughout the month of May — which is also known as Mental Health month — Teigen will use social media to ask moms to share what they wish they would have known about postpartum depression by using the hashtag #MyWishForMoms. A website with the same name as the hashtag will educate families on the warning signs and treatment options for postpartum depression.

Teigen previously visited Pittsburgh for the opening of the Alexis Joy D’Achille Center for Perinatal Mental Health, where she met with women who received treatment for postpartum depression.

Chrissy Teigen is one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2019

Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2019 have been revealed and the mag just released the six cover stars for the issues. Chrissy is also appeared in the full list, that you can check on Time’s official site. Here’s the article featured Chrissy, written by Eric Ripert.

“In this world, there are only two things: good food and bad food. What Chrissy Teigen and I have in common is that we like good food. I first met Chrissy on the set of my show, On the Table. The idea was to interview the guest while we cooked a meal together. She was a riot. She was out-of-her-mind funny, and we had a blast. But while she might come off as lighthearted, Chrissy’s cooking is truly excellent. She’s a true perfectionist and extremely precise. She remembers where she came from, and she’s very proud of that. Her father is of Norwegian descent, her mother is Thai and she’s American, and she’s bringing her culture to the food world. Her cookbooks are made for people to cook at home, but they’re not something you just leave on the coffee table—they’re recipes you want to make over and over again. She may be a top model, but all her life, Chrissy Teigen has liked to eat. She’s not shy about that—or anything else, really. She’s very opinionated, and I love her for it. But what I love most about Chrissy is that she’s very much herself. She may be glamorous and an icon in elegance, but she’s extremely approachable and warm. And above all, she’s a very proud mother and a tremendously supportive wife. I admire her so much.”

Chrissy Teigen Got Her First Tattoos

The couple that inks together, stays together? Seems to be the truth today for power duo Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who showed off matching tattoos in a tribute to their adorable family of four.

The husband and wife team decided on a delicately scripted trio of names: For Legend, “Chrissy-Luna-Miles” was artfully penned on his upper arm, and for Teigen, “John-Luna-Miles” on her forearm. The artist behind the ink? Los Angeles-based Daniel Winter, whose fine-lined creations can be seen gracing the limbs of A-listers from Sophie Turner to Miley Cyrus. He was the one behind Lady Gaga’s Edith Piaf-inspired tattoo ahead of the Oscars.

The pro sets himself apart with a single-needle fine-line technique that allows for minimalist drawings of stars, palm trees, flowers sayings, and chain links that mimic a new bracelet. While Legend opted for just the set of names, Teigen added on a small heart on the inside of her index finger—a loving touch indeed. Click here to see the Instagram’s post.

Is Chrissy Teigen on Ellen DeGeneres list to replace her as talk show host?

Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly considering retiring from her chat show.

The 61-year-old television host is said to be stepping down as the host of her daytime celebrity chat show ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ and is considering the likes of Chrissy Teigen, Neil Patrick Harris and Ellie Kemper as her replacement.

A source told to Life & Style magazine: “Ellen is retiring from her Emmy-winning daytime talk show at wife Portia de Rossi’s urging and has already drawn up a shortlist of superstars to fill her dancing shoes. Ellen’s reached out to a few guest hosts who have filled in for her in the past. It’s not an easy decision, but it’s one she’ll be making soon.”

The publication reported earlier this year that the presenter was set to leave after “years” of her wife Portia “begging her to leave”. They said: “Ellen’s finally quitting Hollywood. After years of Portia begging her to leave her talk show behind, she’s finally relenting. Warner Bros were prepared to offer Ellen more money to stay but she promised Portia that this time, nothing would change her mind.”Although it has been claimed Ellen is set to leave the show behind, the star insisted last year that she has no plans to slow down anytime soon as she loves her job so much. She previously said: “I don’t know what I’m looking forward to. That’s why I’m going to keep doing this until I figure that out. I’m not looking forward to retiring because I love doing this.”

And Ellen admits she is “shocked” every time she remembers she has reached six decades of life. Speaking before she reached the milestone, she added: “I’m shocked that I’m turning 60 because it just sounds horrible. It just does.”

Chrissy Teigen Went On Family Feud And Lost Part Of A Tooth

Family Feud is a vicious game. Do not play unless you are prepared to chip a tooth, as Chrissy Teigen did recently! The cookbook author and Twitter auteur recently went on the show, only to leave with a chipped tooth.

“I can’t say if we won or lost family feud but we definitely brought a flask, I definitely chipped a tooth and there was definitely a record set,” Teigen wrote on Instagram.

The record to which she’s referring appears to be… most teeth chipped during a taping of Family Feud? Teigen’s episode will air soon, so the tooth-chipping is still a bit of a mystery. (Did she slam the buzzer with her teeth?) Regardless, the episode is looking good: Teigen and her family faced off against the cast of Vanderpump Rules, a show which Teigen openly adores.

Chrissy Teigen, reigning leader of Twitter, versus Pump Rules, Twitter fave? Well, it’s not Lady Gaga versus Glenn Close (which Saturday Night Live did this weekend), but it’ll do. All’s fair in love and Family Feud!

Chrissy Teigen’s episode will air Sunday 24th February!
